2011, yous gots some esplainen to dooooo.

Welcome to 2011, friends.
Sorry about the delay, I was half way between another WTF moment or so.
Here, have some art.
I painted this for my boyfriend's birthday back in October.
Next up, a poem by Mary Johnson, butchered/illustrated by yours truly.
Other big news: CaitlinInterruption will be moving.
Details to come.
Much love to you,
I solemnly swear I'm up to no good.

witty title placeholder

I wanted to update on an up-note:
I'm going to see one of my favorite bands with damned fine company tomorrow night, and then off I go a-wenching for the last weekend of the Northern California Renaissance Faire this season.
I am grateful for everything in my life and I say that with the utmost sincerity (and enough sappiness to gag Walt Disney).

My loves, I miss you too.
Photographic evidence to follow in the next entry; and yes, honest to goodness ART to be posted. I tell no lies.

Adieu,
c

Recent Developements

  1. Maelie Ladylove has graciously offered to let me use her scanner/printer for the time that she is Aloha Mae (in Hawaii with her Navy boylove). Downside: recently paid off two major debts and therefore can't even afford the tank of gas to get down to San Jose to retrieve it.
  2. Attended "Seeing Red" at Old Crow Tattoo & Art Gallery in Oakland (in the magical time when I had gas in my car). This guy made me go out and spend my last few dollars on a canvas, to which I say thank you.
  3. I've been listening to Evelyn Evelyn compulsively since my return from Yosemite. And after overdosing on stupid from my shift this morning, it is sorely needed.

Fool's Train Ticket

A commission as done for Carl Flynn.
© Caitlin Olson 2009, etc., etc., don't be a douche canoe.

I wouldn't say the nine-to-five-ing are draining me, it just makes it so the time that I do have that isn't spent catering to the strange needs of John Q. Public (picking a lock at a customer's request today, good example), I actually spend drawing rather than typing away on my blog at all hours of the night.
Except tonight.

I escape the Bay Area on April Fool's Day until the fourth. I'm eager for my long train ride and the consumption of large quantities of books that I've accumulated over the past six months.

Monday nights: to fall asleep to Billie Holiday
Here's how,

Remind me

to redo my "I Can Shuffle, Cut, And Deal" print.

Because after a week in hell,
I find that Amanda Fucking Palmer still rocks my tits off.

I can shuffle, cut, and deal
But I can't draw a hand
I can't draw a lot of things
I hope you understand
I'm not exceptionally shy
But I've never had a man
That I could look straight in the eye
And tell my secret plans

May I present to you as a token of good faith for bothering to read this rot

my all-time favorite animated full-length film, American Pop by Ralph Bakshi.

Fuck yes, Hulu.
Thank you for making the end of this decade for me.

Cheers,
and most likely only one more post for this wretched year of 2009,

Dia de los Muertos

These woodcuts still give me shivers, just because of the pure detail.

Also feel like if there was some kind of creature that is slowly eating away at my insides and not allowing me to focus, it would resemble something fairly close to this.

Heavily ... distracted, as it were.

Cheers fuckwits,

Tombstone [Everything was beautiful and nothing hurt]

It's been a very strange and wonderful span of 240+ hours. Ideas and projects are a-brewing and I'll post some sketches once I get the chance.

As of late

We rejoiced when it was 95º in the shade, I had fun losing (Thumb Wars, 5-Card Stud Poker), and have never regretted leaving my sketchbook (or even just a BOOK, I normally carry at least one) at home more than this past weekend.
Hello randomly placed sketches and portraits, I missed you.
Don't ever leave me again.

P.S. The foot was from when I had to stay in bed part of June. The face was probably someone sitting in Bay Street. I am the one sporting the Sapporo label (in my top 3 favorite beers, thanks to my Shoko Hori), and I unintentionally did a portrait of a flute player in almost the same exact manner as my brother Michael's portraits of people. Right down to the bright colors.
Gotta love genetics ...?

Zombified, and loving it,
c.i.

Herzlichen Glückwunsch zum Geburtstag, Fraulein Trudeau

Album cover & tattoo design: completed.
Images to post for my portfolio AND your viewing pleasure? Fail.
Next investment? Obtain one or all of the following: A drawing pad, Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator Suite, a large scanner, and some sanity.

Cheers,
c.i.

私は彼を欠場

  1. I would defend my honor if I knew where it was.
  2. America defends the right to free speech, apparently alcohol just makes it that much more possible.
  3. Tomer Hanuka is teh sex. See giant watery-tart.
  4. Gentlemen, BEHOLD!! I need to move the fuck out of my parent's house. See list items 1 & 2.
  5. Falling for someone is like quicksand; easy to get yourself into, but it really fucking sucks you in the more you try to get out.

Thanks Jacob

What's funny is during my freshman year at California College of the Arts, I was required to remake a chair, or to create a functional or non functional chair.
This is awesome.
